*** I am not a hair expert. The post below is what works for ME and may or may not work for your hair type ***

I have decided to grow my hair out, and with that comes tangles. Lots of tangles. So, instead of chopping off my hair I did want any twenty-first century girl would do: I took to the internet. I also asked a few of my most stylish friends their advice. Here is the hair routine that I've found works best for me and the products I use.
Before I get in the shower I detangle and comb my hair. It's important to get your hair tangle-free BEFORE getting in the shower. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER try to get your tangles out while your hair is wet. You also want to make sure not to tug on your hair. You want to get your tangles out not pull out your hair.
Here are the products I use:
I start out my showers with conditioner. I try not to use too much since my hair is naturally very oily, and I add it to the middle of my hair and down. The conditioner moisturizes your hair. When your hair is moisturized, it is less likely to tangle. After I've worked in my conditioner, I lather in shampoo. I try not to be too rough when adding in my shampoo. You want to be gentle and careful not to cause too much friction. I also don't shampoo everyday. One hair tip I've read is to take cold showers. I try to let at least 30 seconds of cold water run down on my hair. If you can do it longer, then I admire you.

After I get out of the shower, I dry my hair off with a towel. I used to wrap it up turban style, but I read that doing that causes static, which causes tangles. Instead, I try to pat it dry. When it has dried most of the way, I add some leave-in conditioner. I separate my hair into two braids, so it doesn't tangle while I sleep.
In the morning, I brush my hair. If it is still wet, I'll blow dry it. I try to remember to carry a brush and a hair tie with me in case I'm going to be out in the wind a lot. I still get tangles, but this way makes it much more manageable. What do you do for your tangles?
